Problem: site does recognise work done by computer [RESOLVED]

Hi everyone.

I have been running the BOINC client since June 2009 over 3 months ago yet I have never received any points nor does the site acknowledge it has received any work from my computer which does in fact carry out the tasks it is assigned.

I have reinstalled the program several times without the problem being resolved. The messages usually include:

Task CMD2... exited with zero status.
If this happens repeatedly you may need to rest the project.

I have read the documentation on this error message and as a result have set the preferences for memory usage and checked the box "Leave applications in memory while suspended" about 1 month ago but this has not solved the problem.

Can anyone help please?

Yours sincerely

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

Please visit the My Grid > Result Status page and click on any link in the status column where a recent result shows 'error' or 'invalid'. Copy that information in your next post.

The error is a typical exponential of interrupted client to science application communication, firewall or antivirus or OS security interfering.

Strangely, I do not see a single device installed, but that could be because it has not yet returned a valid result.

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

Here as requested is a copy of the result status page: there is not one single message, error or otherwise. I think it may well be that the computer has not yet returned a valid result but I did receive an automatic email from the site in June 2009 acknowledging the first upload from my computer. My computer normally runs several hours every day on the BOINC project.

What exact member name do you see in the projects tab of the BOINC manager, advanced view?

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

The projects tab of the BOINC manager, advanced view, reads precisely the following under the corresponding headings:

Project: World Community Grid
Account: ComtedeMon...
Team: Decrypthon

Work done: 1656.52
Avg. work done: 15.18
Resource share: 100(100/00%)
Status: ---

In particular the account name shown ComtedeMon... is incomplete.

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

Seems after looking in BOINCstats, the device is registered to ComtedeMonteC as a member of decrypthon http://boincstats.com/search/all_projects.php...60a710740f23dee112b194ba1

So, you need to log out and sign into WCG with that name/password to visit the result status page.

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

You are absolutely right. In reinstalling the project in June I changed the name (a pseudonym) without realising. This seems to have solved the problem. Thank you very much!!!!

Yours sincerely

Re: Problem: site does recognise work done by computer

I am glad that this membername issue has been solved (and thank you for having flagged this thread as such) but what about these messages?
Task CMD2... exited with zero status.
If this happens repeatedly you may need to rest the project.

Does it happen often or only exceptionally?

And thank you for having joined WCG. Jean.
