Re: Transient upload error

Hi Rickjb,
well, right now I have 100TB worth of hds sitting on my desk waiting to be filled... once Jabba is up and running that is biggrin. But you are right - it is somewhat embarrassing that we did not foresee that Ms Piggy would get into trouble well before reaching the 100%. Anyways, for the time being we got 20TB of temp space on a different Harvard machine which should keep us afloat till Jabba is operational (thanks to the Harvard Research Computing team for making that happen) - no need for WCG to reduce our load.
Cheers
Your Harvard CEP team

cleanenergy. Pleased to hear you have storage issues on on the mend. Do all CEP2 tasks have a 10 day deadline? Or are some 4 days like CMD2 ie repair jobs or the end of batches?

Re: Transient upload error

Speedy51, all repairs are 40% of original deadline for all sciences, a hard rule set, ideally amended to adopt at least the original deadline as minimum i.e. if a task fails on the 3rd of 10 days, give it 7. Apparently that creates a DB load as the program would then have to look up the deadline date of the original task, somewhere buried in the probably tens of millions of live tasks (hopper/feeder/results table). If there were only a few hundred on 700,000 daily that would not be too much of an issue, but with thousands it's understood to be impacting. That's the word of several years ago... don't know how it would be today. Very often see repair jobs are back and the original wingman not showing for days after. Not critical to me as repairs go to machines anyhow that standard return results < 2 days.

Re: Transient upload error

Thanks SekeRob, I guess I've never been lucky enough to net a repair job. Reason why I raised the question was because of lack of storage. I know this has been sorted now. Recently CMD2 recovered round 300GB of space from pushing through a bunch of repair jobs/nearly finished batches of work.

Re: Transient upload error

This one is stuck, all other parts uploaded fine as did the next CEP2 result. It's not reported as locked though, so not sure what's causing this, other than a mixed set of 5 completed results hung whilst the WiFi connection was down for about 5 hours, just for this device:

Thu 17 Mar 2011 09:52:34 AM CET Temporarily failed upload of E201528_323_C.20.C16H10OS2Si.00004441.2.set1d06_1_4: HTTP error
Thu 17 Mar 2011 09:52:34 AM CET Backing off 1 min 0 sec on upload of E201528_323_C.20.C16H10OS2Si.00004441.2.set1d06_1_4
Thu 17 Mar 2011 09:52:37 AM CET Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

TIA

edit: I'm taking it back... all _4 files of the CEP2 tasks get stuck in a HTTP error. Disk full full?

Re: Transient upload error

Got same message as SekeRob did.
Meanwhile, other WCG projects upload without problem.

Re: Transient upload error

Same problem here with 13 tasks. Should I copy their names here?

Re: Transient upload error

Think we're getting the idea... Wake up call at Harvard is imminent :D

edit: And soon I'll be suspending CEP2 tasks and let other sciences ahead as when the uploads reach a multiple of cores (factor 2), no more new work can be fetched.
