Re: HTTP error 0 and BOINC 6.12.34

If you have the link for 6.12.34, simply change to 6.12.33 so for instance the 64 bit 6.12.34 is:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.12.34_windows_x86_64.exe

the download for another version such as 6.12.33 is

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.12.33_windows_x86_64.exe

Simple as that. I've been running 6.12.33 on Linux rather trouble free since about 6 weeks. The only [main] irritant is when the event log is up you can *not* switch to the BM, but if you move the event log window out of the way, you can still work the BM menu's and tabs.

Not seen a response in the alpha mail list yet. Think that goes controlled dormant in the weekend, for XYZ reason.

Hi SekeRob,

just uninstalled 6.10.60 and installed 6.12.33.

I tried updating WCG and communication completed fine without any HTTP error 0.

Will have to wait for a WCG WU to complete to see whether uploading/reporting/downloading work fine as well, but I'm confident they will.

Bye for now

Re: HTTP error 0 and BOINC 6.12.34

Can anyone who ran into this problem with 6.12.34 test if 6.12.38 is still doing it? Available for Linux, Windows and Mac at this download list.

Hi,

just tested on Win 7 64 bit (using BOINC 6.12.38 64 bit) and the HTTP error 0 issue is still there.

Going to revert to 6.10.60 again.

Bye

Re: HTTP error 0 and BOINC 6.12.34

Without proxy, BOINC 6.12.34 works fine (64bits version) for me.

With proxy required (with account and password) BOINC 6.12.34 emits the HTTP error 0 (32bits version).

Hi,

does anyone know whether this issue has been fixed?

Bye

Re: HTTP error 0 and BOINC 6.12.34

No need to start a new thread [plz delete, long as there's no reply]... the bump you did here put it to the top so now we have 2 with same topic up there. Was this "proxy only" related? Somewhere it was claimed to have been fixed in something like 6.12.41 or 6.12.43... cant remember, but if it hasn't, let me invite you to do a trial test on the current 7.0.18 alpha for this specific bug. If gone, we'll record this here and ask the admin to mark this thread [RESOLVED]

Note, that but for backporting fixes, the developers wrote that no feature backports will be undertaken. 6.10.58 continues to be the recommended client for WCG.

--//--

P.S. No, we are not bothered as they are at some other DC forums about old [unresolved] threads to be revived. Keeps it all nicely together.

edit: At the very least 6.12.33 continues to be the listed ergo recommended release in the Ubuntu 10 and 11 Repositories.

Hi Sekerob,

for some reasons my last post to this thread didn't show for a while (at least on my PC) on BOINC Agent Support forum threadlist, therefore I started a new thread to revive the old one.

Do you know how I can delete the newer thread?

Back to the issue, I will start with 6.12.43, then try 6.13.12 and report here.

Bye

Re: HTTP error 0 and BOINC 6.12.34

Hi,

Unfortunately the dupl. has a reply now, else you could have. Open post and there's a button. If you try now, e.g. on your post here, you'll find you can't anymore.

Think you tested up to 6.13.11, but suggest to shorttrack and try 7.0.18 which is moderately stable [you might even like it if the problem resolved itself]. Did not see any reports in the alpha mail list of this continuing to occur for anyone who tests against WCG. There may have been a track ticket for this, for sure it was discussed at Berkeley, and the admin would carry it to developers IIRC.

--//--

P.S. Specifically, 7.0.12 to 7.0.17 give problems with WCG task downloads of various sciences. Different [on the fly] file transfer compression handling [in async when files are 10MB and up].
